Might've gotten a little bit of airplay but wasn't a hit. It's not even mentioned on the band's wikipedia page.

Check again.

Girls & Boys actually charted higher than Song 2 in the US.

Wow, I stand corrected, and utterly confused. I just found that song online and apparantly I never knew who did that song... I recognize the hook but had no idea that was Blur.

Question: would The Replacements "I'll Be You" fit here? It was their only single that crossed over to Top 40.

Man, outside of Tommy Tutone?s Jenny (True One Hit Wonder), I never heard or even, recognise any of those bands/songs.

Those were all US hits in the 70s, Wampa (actually Lunatic Fringe was 80s)... great list.

Here's a 70s one that I think was just a regional midwest song: "Vehicle" by the Ides of March. The Chicago Bears used to use it during their radio broadcasts, they still might.

Vehicle got plenty of play out here on the East Coast.

Spacehog - In The Meantime

It's a shame that they were a one hit wonder, because this is a great song. The rest of the album was okay, and their second album (The Chinese Album) was, in my opinion "good to very good".

agreed, though they also had a song called "I Want to Live" that did well (for them), IIRC...not sure which cd it was on.

I don't remember that one. I have their first two albums, and I think they had three. The only other songs I ever recall getting played at all are "Cruel to be Kind" and "Mungo City".

ETA: Wikipedia says its off "The Hogyssey" (2001). I don't recall ever hearing anything off that album. I'll have to check it out.

I agree. The charts can't be the only measure because otherwise you'd have to include the Grateful Dead and Touch of Grey.

Or Hendrix and "All Along the Watchtower."

I'd add Paper Lace and "The Night Chicago Died."
