When I was 17 I was lying down in parks drinking Bundy or Midori until I passed out.

Boston's Amanda was one of my favorite radio related moments. When I was in college, the local station got a bootleg copy of the song and played it constantly for awhile. It is a catchy tune, so I got familiar with the chorus. Then tom scholz wrote to the station and told them to cease and desist, so the song disappeared.

About a year later, I am at work a couple of hundred miles from the aforesaid radio station. I am walking by the groomer's room, and the DJ says that the new Boston single "Amanda" will have its world premiere at 3 pm. Without meaning to sound like a dick, I said that I knew the song. She called me a jerk and pointed out that I couldn't know the song, because it was going to be the world premiere. I couldn't remember why it sounded familiar, but I said that I knew it and would be back at 3. I returned, and sang along with the song much to her chagrin. Only later did I recall (and inform her) why I knew the words.

That may be the most perfect match between "artist" and cover song I've seen.

I like this version much better than the original.
