Ok, I listened to an album of his over the weekend. Seemed like the most boring music imaginable. I think I feel like I was right. Thank you.

Which album? His first couple of albums after leaving Drive-By Truckers weren't all that great.

He has some mellow songs, he has some songs that rock. He has some songs that do a slow build like:

Abbey Road track ranking:

Here Comes the Sun--Upbeat acoustic song that never fails to brighten my mood.
Oh, Darling--Paul just rocking out. I dig it.
Something--Beatles best straight on love song.
Maxwell's Silver Hammer--bizarre and funny
Come Together--gets points from Aerosmith cover
Octopus's Garden--tries harder than Maxwell's SH
Medley--couple of good ideas, but none brought to fruition.
I Want You (She's So Heavy)--just dumb
Because--How stoned were they to put this on a record?
Her Majesty--completely stoned...

INXS Kick is one of the top 5 pop albums of the 80's. Come at me bros.

(Please note that my definition of pop excludes hard rock/metal and leaves GNR off the top 5)

Look at Lurch dusting off the war horses of early 80's alt rock. I said pop albums pops.

I'll up my taek and say that She's So Unusual makes the top 10 of 80's pop albums.
