Jai Alai is WAY more depressing.

+1 Theny. At least if you're at the dog track on a nice day you're outside and can enjoy it.

@WNYC
As if the heat wasn't unpleasant enough, it's now so hot that NYC's cockroaches are likely to use their wings & take flight to cool off.

I'll do a man on the scene shot from cockroach gulch in the COMEBRO district, and report my findings.

After 3 years of talking about it, I finally went here:

http://willywall.com/

Its a barge in NYC harbor that's just off Ellis Island that looks like this:

And has views like this:

And pours a really strong drink.

Getting there is a little tricky, you take a ferry to Jersey then they pick you up at the ferry dock in a launch and boat your ass over.

We had a lot of fun. There were two random sets of fireworks that went off last night. One pretty damn big.

Only in New York friends.

That's a great view Sco. Next time turn around and get a shot of those fuel terminals in Newark.

http://www.crainsnewyork.com/article/20 ... pipe-dream

So I've long ago given up complaining about NYC development. The Greatest City is some sort of ponzi development scheme where they just build the shit out of everything and rubes show up to fill whatever they just build.

This one however is a bit NIMBYish. My house is not in the picture, but is a couple blocks over from the lower left.

The good news, is that they are proposing to build over that entire railyard and its going to cost $19 billion dollars. That pretty much means there is no freaking chance of this actually happening. I'm sure there's a cheaper spot in city limits (like the Bronx) where the mayor and developers can build "affordable housing" units while really just filling the skyline with $3000/month outer borough studio apartments.

Oh and they are currently building the ever loving shit out of Queens plaza and have yet to fill all those units up with fresh meat. Thats all the construction in the top middle of the photo.

The bad news is that this IS the greatest city on earth and they just did something equally ridic with the Hudson Yards on Manhattan's west side.

Hopefully this is just some crackpot shit by a one and done Brooklyn mayor, and I don't have 10 years of construction in hood. (actually I already do because of upgrades to the railyards and LIRR lines going on right now).

Anyway let's hear it for NOOOO YAWK! If they do actually build this thing, my house will prolly triple in value so I got that going for me.
