stay in downtown Brooklyn jike. close hotels, a bit pricier than normal but way cheaper than Manhattan in 10 minutes and 2 stops on the subway you're in Manhattan. also there a LOT of cheap hotels in Chinatown in Manhattan and that of town is very cool and fun.

if with fam, be careful you get a place with big enough rooms. Even some of the brand name places in Manhattan have teeny rooms. Also if you are driving into the city try to prepay online at a close by commercial garage because if your hotel has parking your ass will be raped worse than rickm3’s friend thinks.

...I mean, I'm a big dude. We're not small people. Farva was legit trying to be well-meaning, IMO.

Seems like hotel rooms in NYC being tiny is a pretty well known thing, to me.

I was being genuine. You’ll see pics of a normal sized room when you book online and you open the door to a closet that would make 2 normal sized people feel claustrophobic, let alone one Farva.

Jike - What time of year are you going to be in NYC? Hotel prices fluctuate wildly based on the season and can dictate where you are staying.

I only stay in the city 1-2 times a year but my go to place is the Grand Hyatt. It is right in Grand Central, which for me is great since I take the train in from Stamford. The rooms are actually a decent size for a NYC hotel and the prices are not THAT bad. Especially to be smack dab in mid-town. The drink prices at the bar are obscene though.

I stay in Boston more often and find the Boston hotel prices to be much worse than NY, they vary widely depending on what is going on so brace yourself. I usually stay at the Marriott Copley Square. Easy to get to from the Back Bay train station if you are taking the train. Walkable to Fenway and not too far from Quincy Market and the waterfront. The rooms are fine...it is a typical Marriott. The Residence Inn Fenway is pretty good too. It is pretty new and really close to Fenway. I have only stayed there once and liked it. And I THINK that since it is a residence inn all of the rooms have little kitchenette areas. I am staying there again 2 times this summer for Sox games. There is also a Sheraton and Hilton or maybe a Hyatt (or at least there used to be) in Copley that I have stayed at and they were both fine. Again good location, close to the Prudential Center (is it still called that?) and the T. If you want a non brand name the Copley Square hotel was pretty good, it is small and boutique-y. I don't remember the details but the waiter at breakfast pissed me off for some reason so I have not been back because #iholdgrudges. But the hotel was good.

Good luck, have fun.

I was actually going to recommend Jike check the Hyatt website because sometimes you can get a good rate for the Grand Hyatt.

In Boston I highly recommend the Kendall in Cambridge, where flush also has stayed. Comfortable, nicely priced, good breakfast and next to the T and across a bridge from downtown Bahstin.

RF is correct with the Kendall rec. It's literally a 5 min walk to the T in Cambridge--straight shot to downtown/Fenway/etc.
