We were in a booth. Lurch and I sat next to each other.

How's his mustache? Did it curl up when you mentioned me or did he pretend to not hear you?

This is true. I was trying to think if High West and No Name Saloon were actually my locals, but I think I drink there most often, so sure they are my locals.

if a "local" is defined as the place where you drink the greatest volume, then my local is my study with the lights off wondering what the fuck is going on.

This one is going to give Farva a lot of mixed feels:

Sally's Apizza sold. New owners to expand Sally's across the United States.

I had no idea Sally's was considering a sale. It's too bad. Even though I'm a Pepe's guy, I have incredible respect for Sally's. I hope they manage to avoid diluting the product.

I still maintain that the sauce is better at Sally's.

when i was last there there was some talk about the current generation getting permission to sell, i didn't know what the story was doe.

let's see what expanding across the US means. can't recreate the rat hole atmosphere of the current place, but if they get the execution right on the pizza then who cares. i don't think even the original necessarily needs the family members to continue at the helm, the demise of the yankee doodle is one of a gazillion examples that a specific talent doesn't necessarily carry down to a new generation. the key thing will be who the new owners are, what they want to do with it, are their interests aligned across the ownership group and management, and do they know what they're doing. fingers crossed they don't fuck it up.

that hugh keefe lawyer guy, the name rings familiar for some reason but i can't remember, apparently he was practicing there when i was in college.

Pepe’s has already expanded to nine locations between Chestnut Hill, MA and Yonkers, NY. They’ve done a pretty good job in keeping the product and experience as close to the original as could reasonably be expected. Hopefully Sally’s will do the same. Pepe’s stayed in the family doe. Not sure if that’ll matter.

Is Modern next? Maybe we should all go in together and make an offer and bring New Haven style pizza to the SOTSG regions?

There's a Pepe's in Chestnut Hill? I did not know that. I guess it's been a long time since I've been anywhere in Chestnut Hill other than the BC campus, but I still feel like this is something I should have been aware of.

Also, I'd love to go in on this business venture but I gave all my money to dtf. /layup
