I think Parker and Stone just had a lot of the same influences when they were young (i.e. HBO in the days before VCRs were prevalent). Simmons, Parker, and Stone are all brilliant minds who have had their brilliance simultaneously sharpened and warped by significant TV watching. It's a beautiful thing.

I'm a huge fan of "Passion of the Jew."

In the episode, Cartman keeps telling Kyle how evil the Jews are, and when Kyle objects, Cartman invites him to see the movie. Kyle sees it and is haunted by what he sees. After Kyle tells of what happened to Kenny and Stan, they go see it. They are disgusted and demand their $18 back. The ticket office guy refuses and tells him to take it up with Mel Gibson. The boys call Mel Gibson's fan club, whose president is Cartman, and demand their money back. After that goes bad, they go to LA, where they meet Gibson. The funniest part of that is when Gibson starts talking about the money he's made, and says he will start a church so he "can play banjo. Oh I love you Jesus..." The boys eventually get their money back, but in the meantime, Cartman has whipped the town up in a Jew-hating frenzy (although the town doesn't know it), and Kyle tries to talk the rabbi into making a public apology for the crucifixion of Jesus. The boys come back in time to see a showdown between Cartman and the Jews, until Mel Gibson comes and blows up the theater in a gas truck. At the end, Gibson takes a shit on Cartman...
I've grown so used to you somehow, Lord I'm nobody's sugar daddy now, and I'm lo-oo-onesome, I've got the lovesick blues.

My favorite South Park of all time is still the original full-length ep, Cartman Gets an Anal Probe. With no pre-conceptions of what the show would be it just floored me. It's also the only one that was actually done with construction paper cutouts and a still camera, as opposed to the current computer-based animation. Fantastic.

Other close calls would be the one with lesbian substitute teacher from Season One and the one with Jennifer Aniston as the Getting Gay With Kids conductor when they head down to Costa Rica. My favorite recent episode is the parody of You Got Served.

The You got Served, and I love the Mormon episode for some reason. Brilliantly written episode criticizing a pretty weird religion.

That episode was genius. "Passion of the Jew" is a classic, as is the getting gay with kids. However, the all-time classic is the "You Got Served" episode, I mean, that's just a classic.

I think the O.C. Crew is dead...THAT MEANS THE WINNERS ARE THE SOUTH PARK DIGGETYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My all-time favorite is still the one where Jared from Subway shows up and he wants to give aides to all the children.

I can't think of that episode without thinking of the dancing duck, but I tend to think of the rap music playing when Chef is checking out their moves.

I still can't decide if my favorite is the Trapper Keeper episode or the ep with Radiohead, the Chili Con Carnival episode.

If a gun is to my head, it's probably Chili Con Carnival.
