Fired up Cheers on the 'flix last night because a.) #whynot ; 2.) I need a new show; d.) my buddy kyle said that he and his wife were rewatching and it still held up.

I liked it a lot. Caught three episodes before we decided to call it a day. I hadn't never seen the early seasons with Coach. Didn't start watching until I was, you know, not a baby. Probably roll through this over the next 4-5 months. Maybe I'll watch M*A*S*H after that. I've never seen an episode.

Did cheers a couple of years ago and I agree it held up pretty well or I liked it because of the nostalgia. I don't think I ended up making it all the way through though. I dont think MASH will hold up, I remember as a kid not liking it unlike cheers.

I'll probably pass on it then. At some point I won't get around to finally watching the Wire, Arrested Development, or Sopranos.

Jeff Garlin was on Mike and mike yesterday, he said netflix is great and unique to work for. they hire people to make shows and movies and leave them alone completely. they give no input on what it has to be (I imagine within reason), just hire who they like and trust them.

interesting concept.

The knock on doing a Netflix show is that they've put so much money into content production that they have a glut of shows and don't market them very well. If you need to build an audience, this isn't the best place.

finally getting around to the OJ show. Watching it with the wife. we're through 4 eps, jury selection has just ended. my thoughts:

-Schwimmer is really good. I am always surprised by this, but he has been really good in everything i've seen him in since he stopped doing those rom-coms right after Friends. Who knew

-My wife doesn't remember ANYTHING about the OJ trial. I have to explain everything, tell her who everyone is, etc. She didn't know Kato Kaelan was A) OJ's permanent house guest or B) a sex symbol for a little while. Had no idea he got famous by being an OJ witness. She didn't know the 911 call with Al Cowlings. I wish i could go back and hear that call for the first time again. YOU KNOW WHO THIS IS GODDAMMIT.

-I laughed the first time i saw Ron Goldman's father because he looked EXACTLY like Ron Goldman's father with that Gene Shalit mustache and the dumb glasses. Wife was surprised i would know who he was on first glance. I was like "look at him! He looked exactly like that, you don't forget someone who looks like that." And then he started complaining about how his son's death had been turned into a joke and i was like...welp yeah, that sucks man.

-Cuba is good but he doesn't look enough like OJ for me. Everyone else is amazingly similar looking and then all they can do with OJ is get someone who is also black. Put some makeup on him to make the forehead bigger at least.

-Travolta should just be Bob Shapiro forever.

-Cochran being portrayed as heroic is kind of weird. i assume that will turn a little bit at some point.

-impressed at how they were able to make Sarah Paulson almost as ugly as Marcia Clark.

Your wife is like 29 right? That makes sense.

She's 33, she was 11-12 for this. i guess a murderous football player being chased through the streets of LA really slowly was not as attention catching for a pre-teen girl as it is for a teen boy.

The only reason I saw the chase is because my dad let me stay up to watch the basketball game. I obviously remember a lot more of the details, like you, but I can see how I was on the lower bound of caring about it. I had to have my dad and mom explain why he was so famous, as I hadn't seen a lot of the non-football things that made him famous.
