Treme

I loved the Hamsterdam reference and of course Prezbo and Bubbles' sponsor. I know the show is supposed to have a very musical tone but I really don't need the 3-4 full songs every episode. Seems like filler every time. Not thati mind the music or anything, I would just rather have those 10 minutes go towards something else.

I dunno about this show. The narrative just doesn't feel like it is going anywhere anytime soon. Too many storylines at once. They should drop the fiddle chick and her boyfriend. And if the chef ain't gonna show her tittays, they need to cut her too. Maybe even cut John Goodman. Have him have a heart attack or something.

I'm alright with the lack of narrative. This show is like the anti-Lost.

I am not feeling the NYC celeb crossover stuff that happens in the show. They can leave Top Chef for Bravo or whatever station it runs on.

I am a couple of weeks behind with this show and don't have much desire to catch up.

People who have continued watching - Yes, No, or Meh - should I bother?

If you are meh on the show, I don't think the last 3 eps are really going to change you one way or the other. Lester picks it up a notch, Steve Zahn gets some more play, the Dutch guy still sucks, etc...I really like this show. What's the problem you are having with it? I can see the lack of a central narrative putting people off, but the characters are great.

I don't dislike the show, just hasn't really grabbed me at any point. I don't care for most of the characters. Even serious dramas should have some funny moments, which I think this show has tried to provide (mainly with Zahn, also with the Jap dood in the last ep I watched), but those moments have fallen flat for me. Lambreaux is the one character who's had me interested to see what will happen with him, but that hasn't been enough to overcome how little I care about the other people.

So season 1 is over and I might have been the only guy to stick with it? I'll say this, as far as followups go this beats John from Cincinnati by a country mile. That being said, I think it limped towards the finish line and am meh about its prospects. TRU to the Wire form, they did a great job introducing a stable of characters with a decent amount of intersection between them, but the lack of a central storyline did start to wear at me. How many gigs can I see the Bunk playing at? How many bars do I need to catch Steve Zahn boozing it up in?

Prime Bbcode Spoiler Show Prime Bbcode Spoiler:
I really thought that Goodman was going down with a heart attack a couple eps sooner. The suicide bit was weak.

My DirecTV receiver/DVR in my bedroom might be fucked. If it is and I lost all of my old shows, I probably won't catch up with this.

I don't like the odds of me getting through the second season. That was a snoozer of an opener.

The music is great but the storylines are so slow it made The Killing seem frantic in its pacing

The last two episodes have been pretty good.

Last summer I randomly saw the act in the second episode that Steve Zahn cut Thanksgiving short for. Big Freedia was um interesting.

I am putting this in the Treme thread instead of Grantland to spare everyone but Shamgod the misery of reading this.

http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/670 ... lity-treme

It's one of those articles where the author writes really intelligently about a TV show because he's shitting on a TV genius in it. There are some fair points to it, but to me either you decide to buy into this show and live with the faults or stop watching it.
