this weekend, i saw this movie called Enter the Void.
it's about a drug dealer who gets shot and killed in tokyo, and about what he experiences in the hours following his death. on the intensity scale, i'd rate it over taxi driver, and above requiem for a dream. this might be the most intense movie i've ever seen. not really scary, but there's some scenes in his movie i'll really never forget. the drug tripping scenes are REALLY well done. by far the most impressive i've ever seen in a movie. the visuals and other cinematography were tremendous. sound design was alright, but the accents of the english/america/french/japanese people speaking english to americans made me have to stop and rewind it more than a few times. i found it weirdly realistic for such a psychedelic movie. the conversations and camera work gave it a strong cinema verite feel. the main character could easily be many many dudes i knew when i was younger. ditto for his sister.
the biggest problem with this movie is its pacing. it is probably 30 mins longer than it needs to be to accommodate some of the visual sequences. on the plus side, a lot of those extra minutes give screentime to some fantastic titties, including paz de la huerta (so hot). if you're looking for a different experience for a movie, you should try this one. but it's really not for everyone. there's some shit in this movie i'll never fucking forget.
i'd recommend it for mtm, chrisco, and babylurch. maybe jitsu. that's it.
