Louis Theroux is the fuckin man. Watch as many of his documentaries as you can .... he has this kind of wry, deadpan British humour. And he inserts himself into ridiculously dangerous/fucked up situations and no one seems to care because he comes across as this harmless, naive nerd. The Vegas, South Africa, and Philadelphia ones are especially worth watching.

You know what are boring as shit? Documentaries.

I'd rather read a book on a subject than watch some pony tailed douchebag tell me why I should care about the plight of the sea monkeys. I watch movies to be entertained, not to fucking learn.

Watch Man on Wire. I'm not big into docs generally speaking, but I'll see one if it's supposed to be great and/or if the subject matter interests me. This one rocked, as did the psuedo-doc, animated Waltz with Bashir.

I think I only own one doc on DVD: When We Were Kings.

while i don't necessarily like the genre all that much overall, off the top of my head i've really enjoyed these ones:

murderball
metallica: some kind of monster
brother's keeper
hoop dreams

and i'm sure there are several others that escape me at the moment.

Is it unacceptable to hate Burns solely on the naming structure illustrated above? I can't wait for Film: A Film by Ken Burns and Penis: A Film by Ken Burns. What a douche.

:-k Come to think of it, that reminds me of a certain book I know coming out about basketball...

Hey hey! Don't besmirch Ken Burns, someone with talent, by associating him with hacky High Pitch Bill. Burns is self-serving, but Baseball is fantastic and far superior to any piece of sports media Simmons could ever churn out.

Oh, and another to add to my list is When It Was A Game.
