Brosnan's first was great, probably a top fiver for me, but each of his got progressively less interesting. The last one was just abysmal: Brosnan seemed to go through the motions, and the plot was as hokey as something from the Roger Moore films. Only difference, it wasn't meant to be campy like the Moore movies.

Right before Casino Royale was released, Brosnan gave an interview that basically bashed the producers of the series for taking any edginess out of the Bond franchise and hiring shitty writers. Basically he was pissed that he never got to nail somebody on-screen, and that the movies became way too ridiculous. I never saw the last Brosnan movie, but I would agree with him as to why the series faltered.

They did try to make Bond too P.C. and brooding. There's a scene early in Goldfinger where Connery slaps some cute hotel employee on the ass and smiles. Brosnan's Bond would've had to say something respectful.

You are correct, sir. It seems like he was in more than just two.

yes, absolutely. but i'm not a fan of the series overall because i don't go in for the hokey stuff, and i didn't like moore, dalton or brosnan. i liked that one, a couple of the early connery ones, and casino royale.

Casino Royale as one of the best...really?

Do you guys get off on dudes getting tortured in the nuts, more beefcake than hot chicks, bad writing (another hack job from Haggis), and more fake endings than a Beatles song?

You do realize the original Casino Royale was a farce, and that the entire plot of the movie is based around some crappy card game?

I am not going to get into a dumb argument over this, but I will say give this thing the test of time before you go calling it one of the best.

The original movie version was a farce...I don't believe the original book, which was the first published Bonds book, was intended to be anything but serious.

And I'm not a huge fan of the Bond movies, but the most recent one was the most enjoyable I've seen, up until the last 30 minutes or so. The ending was pretty weak.

Hows about some love for Live and Let Die. Black guys calling Bond "Jimmy", fat southern sheriffs, and the second best Bond theme ever.
View to a Kill on the other hand sucked ass.

Alright, I'll bite... what was the first best Bond theme ever? I'm kind of partial to For Your Eyes Only, We Have All The Time In The World (from On Her Majesty's Secret Service), and The Man With The Golden Gun when it comes to theme music.

I like Live and Let Die as well as A View to a Kill, For Your Eyes Only, and Nobody Does It Better (from The Spy Who Loved Me). For the recent ones, I've got a soft spot for The World is Not Enough since I'm partial to Garbage. No love for Moonraker, Frank?

I liked Garbage's TWiNE song too, and a View to a Kill is pretty good. My least favorite is probably All Time High from Octopussy. You Only Live Twice was pretty bad too (theme song only, not the movie).

I think my least favorite is Die Another Day's theme. Madonna + Bond = Bad Times.

Nobody Does it Better was probably my fave.

Count me as another fan of On Her Majesty's Secret Service. I always like dark endings, especially for these sort of movies.

I like dark endings, I just thought it was lame that he was getting married and got all teary. I wanted him to be like Austin Powers at the beginning of The Spy Who Shagged Me. "I'm single? Yeah baby!!!"
