The Mighty Ducks is on On Demand down here, so I've been watching it a few times.

The things that strike me are

#1 how the McGill kid is a total sociopath--it's one thing to follow your asshole coach's instructions and take out your former best player in the championship game. But to take out a girl after a goal is another thing entirely. MTM and I discussed this in the 'box, but the "My job" in response to what he was doing is hilariously psychotic. I'm sure that kid became either a diddler or the worst kind of hero later on.

#2 is how well mannered Connie Moreau is. Yes, she's down with getting physical (particularly when she decks Averman on the way to her first conversation with Gordon Bombay), but her "Are you sure, Coach?" when Bombay goes with Charlie over Guy Germaine for the game-winning penalty shot was downright sweet. The fact that she later became a stone-cold fox in no way, shape, or form colored my opinion of this...

#3 is how did Tom Friendly get off the island, get contacted by Mr. Ducksworth, and become Gordon's personal driver/assistant coach?

That's gotten some coverage because of the Kurt Russell connection. Supposed to be really good.

How the balls haven't I seen The Other Dream Team yet. This.....yes. If only for young Sabonis highlights - which, holy shit, fucker's playing handball. Mark Eaton's body, Larry Bird's skill, Bill Walton's brain. THAT HYPERBOLE ISN'T FAR OFF, this motherfucker. WHAT IF PORTLAND GOT HIM IN '86?!?! /simmons. And then there's the political shit that would make Jew and Bake look at all of us disapprovingly. In a good way. You wouldn't mind it. For a minute. Or so.

This is pretty good, an article on Herman Boone and his fictionalized portrayal in Remember the Titans:
