They're baaaaaaaack: The Winnipeg Jets thread

It is official---the new Winnipeg team will be called the Jets.

Since they're back, any and all discussion of the NHL Southeast Division's newest member should go here.

For this season the Jets will be in the Southeast, and they will realign next year. I had heard Detroit has been promised they get to move east, but to me what makes sense is to just swap Winnipeg into the Central for Nashville, who moves to the Southeast.

I read Nashville doesn't want to lose playing Detroit, Chicago, STL, and, to a lesser extent, Columbus because their close(r) proximities plus larger, more spread out fan bases vs SE teams. Owners afraid of losing that revenue. Could be BS cuz my first thought was nashville too so...

Detroit in the Northeast makes total sense, however if it happens then say "Goodnight, Sweet Prince" to the Maple Leafs for the next decade or so.

The purveying plan seeks to divide the league into four divisions -- two with eight teams and two with seven teams. The plan will likely be finalized at December's Board of Governors meeting.

What's wrong with the current 6 five-team divisions? Makes too much sense?

Bix's move is the most logical--just move Nashville to the Southeast and put Winnipeg in the Central. Of course, this won't happen...

Put Nashville in the Southeast, but move Winnipeg to the Northwest and slide the Wild into the Central. Winnipeg fans get the hot Canadian-on-Canadian action they crave, and Minnesota can play fewer games out west. Nashville gets -- well, nothing. But fuck Nashville (sorry Angus).

Part of me really likes the incorporation of the old RCAF logo. Part of me finds it really disturbing.

Aesthetically, I really don't like the shading on the maple leaf, or the little divot taken out of the blue circle.

ETA: the stem on the maple leaf looks stupid too.

the opportunity cost of knowing how to preheat an oven is pretty puny compared to anything else

My first thought was that it looked like a penis. A Canadian penis.

I get the sentiment, but I think they'd have been better served using this alternate logo as their regular one...
