It sounds like he really got Wang bent out of shape.

Come 1:58 a.m. on April 19, exactly a quarter century will have passed since LaFontaine scored one of the most famous goals in NHL history: the game-winner in the "Easter Epic," the Islanders' 3-2, four-overtime victory over the Washington Capitals in the decisive Game 7 of the 1987 Patrick Division semifinals.

That was the first NHL game I ever watched. It made me want to play hockey.

"Pat ran for the hills. Pat ran for cover," said Milbury, now an NHL analyst for NBC. "It was cowardly, and it was terrible. And if Charles was [ticked], I wouldn't blame him in the least."

God, Milbury is just the worst.

I regret to say the Doozeticker had it first.

Weird move. Barclays only seats 14,500 for hockey and I'm pretty sure lots of those will be bad seats, like in the original arena in Phoenix and Key Arena, i.e. there's no room for seats behind the net on the lower bowl and/or you can't see the net from parts of the upper bowl.

if im cooking frozen pizza in the oven, how long should i preheat it. box says preheat to 375F but for how long?

Apr 25
the opportunity cost of knowing how to preheat an oven is pretty puny compared to anything else

Good news, they only averaged 13,000 last year.

And at 13,000 they're hemmoraghing about $40 million per year. Barclays is definitely better, but still far from an ideal solution. Here's the seating plan. It's basically a horseshoe with some really terrible seats in the upper deck at the open end of the horseshoe.

Once Mr. Bacon left, the Islanders were free to move to Brooklyn.

Oh yeah, it was definitely the Long Island market that was the problem. This'll fix everything.

They're moving because of the arena, not the market. You can't deny Uniondale is a piece of shit. It's not just a 40-year old building, it's a 40-year old building that has (as far as I know) never been upgraded in any significant way. Everything I read before this said one problem with moving to Barclays was inconvenience of the location for their remaining fan base.

I can see why Wang would prefer Barclays Center to an arena out there that would never get done, but entering a 25-year "ironclad" lease for your team to play in a building that wasn't built for hockey seems completely mental. Not that he's ever shown himself to be anything but one of the worst owners in sports history.
