Out of the Bibby/Simon/Dickerson triumvirate, I thought Dickerson was gonna be the best pro. He had a good couple years before getting unlucky.

I thought that about Luther Head of Illinois, vs Deron Williams and Dee Brown. I know basketball.

How are the Celtics and Cavs reviews coming? And Houston?

New Orleans Pelicans 40.5 sco

I've been to New Orleans....once. IIRC, I did a lotta BSD business at a trade show, drank $0.25 cent martinis, and ate flaming banana pie. Now that I think of it, that might have been two separate trips. Legit not sure, because I also remember a lot of boring things happening there like meeting with telecom regulatory lawyers and riding along with someone who was going camera shopping. I also think I met someone who was doing contract database work for us and was out to 4 AM every night.

Much confusion, no timeline, wow crescent city, such music.

Now where was I?

Right, I was wearing an onion on my belt and reviewing the 2017/18 New Orleans Pelicans. Las Vegas is giving us all the opportunity that they will either win more or less than 40.5 games this year. Interesting.

How is that supposed to play basketball? And does Chris Anderson get royalties on that mascot?

For the sake of Bill Simmons, I am going to assume that the brow gets traded mid-season to the Celtics for Jaylen Brown, a 1st round pick, and Marcus Smart. Oh and we'll get Tony Allen back too. Seems fair.

That does however mean they'll hit the UNDER

Minnesota Timberwolves 46.5 Tambourine!

The Good
Jimmy Butler is here! Karl Anthony Towns is the best offensive big man since Shaq! /Zach Lowe

And....huh.

The Bad
Jeff Fucking Teague. Motherfuckers. And don't flip Wiggins and flotsam for Paul George, no no no, give that waste of talent the max.

The Ugly
The fucking bench. They overpaid Taj Gibson, they paid Jamal Crawford's corpse with the pitchfork sticking out, they got no wings, and about 18 centers. Good thing they got rid of Rubio for all this spacing.

Eh. Wiggins is better than I give him credit for (barely), Teague won't really run the offense (I hope), Gibson can still play D and maybe developed a 3 (prayers), Thibs will run the starters into the ground to win 50 (yay?), Butler's the best trade they've ever made (yes), and Karl Anthony Towns is a future MVP (yes). They'll hit the OVER.

Be a lot more fucking fun with Rubio/Butler/George/KAT though.

We call that a Minnesota 9.

Charlotte Hornets 42.5 Yokel

This is going to be mailed in as i am doing it right now and do not have access to photos at this time.

2 games better than 500 in the East with our new superpower Dwight Howard? I like our chances. OVER

Houston Rockets 54.5 babylurch BSMB

I guess I'll do it. They only play tonight! Also, I gots time.

54.5. Some of the pundits I read think this is an easy over (MTM and DThe).
Image

They won 55 last year.
Image

They added Chris Paul, so they should win 60, right?
Image

But they lost Patrick Beverley.
Image

Thats really all I know. I think they win less than 54.
Image

UNDER is the play.

Denver Nuggets 43.5 Paje

My research consisted of going to page 2 of this thread and reading what DTF said:

Dthefritz wrote:They win 45 in the East. Their defense is beyond shitty and Mudiay is an unspeakable disaster. Jokic can only do so much.

Alex English isn't walking through that door. Take the under!

New York Knicks 30.5 DThe

Well believe it or not, the Knicks have a bunch of pieces that don't fit, no real point guard, and will suck at defense. Unprecedented, really.

Image

It looks like people who don't root for the Knicks but concern troll for their fans, will finally get what they always wanted: Porzingis shooting 50 times a game. What they will not get, to their shock: Him hitting the same percentage of shots as he does now. Still, it will be good for his development, and he will be awesome to watch as always.

Image

They got Anus Cancer, who's good but is basically the exact same player as Willy Hernangomez, who they should really give PT to and develop. They got the guy who's too old to "might be good someday", but you swear might be good some day [McBuckets], and we have brought back Tim Hardaway Jr., a chucker who doesn't play defense. Wouldn't be the Knicks without one of those. Guys #1 and #3 might contribute, but are really not what the team needed, either to build for the future or to help out right now.

Image

As for the draft, Ntilinka is a great defender, great size, wingspan and athleticism, and can shoot. Still really young, too. Will probably not be a real floor general point guard, but a very useful player in today's NBA. But probably will struggle out of the gate as most rookies do. 2nd round pick Damyean Dotson looks like he could be a sleeper. Great shooter with athleticism and size to play the 3 or the 2.

Image

Ultimately, some intriguing pieces, but this season will be a mess. Czech-American HERO coach will probably get fired. We can only hope that the young guys get the time they need and show some signs of life.

Image

Take the under.

It will be really unfair when Utah and Minnesota finish with better records. Small market teams with cold weather just don't stand a chance.
