Let me know when you want to talk about UMass having the greatest guard tandem in Puerto Rican national team history. After that we can discuss the Bruiser Flint era.

Padilla and Travieso? Let's.

Everyone was like Marcus, Marcus, Marcus but when he had that heart/fainting thing during the 30 win season they stepped up and got it done. Born on the same day in Puerto Rico, they complimented each other great. One could knock the 3, the other was a lock down defender. Both had goats, sorta looked alike. First all Hispanic starting back court in D1. Calipari recruited the shit out of New England while at ZooMass. There's never been that much local talent on a squad since Holy Cross's heyday.

Can I stop now or are we gonna do this? If so, I need to make a few calls and get some on campus dirt to keep going.

as per my earlier analysis, Camby was terrible at pick n roll defense, whereas Chandler was near the best in the league in his heyday. and chandler was more of a physical presence in spite of their similar lanky frames. Camby was the better offensive player though. this isn't to say your comparison is bad or anything, but having watched both in THE MECCAA, just how they stack up in my eyes.

Jordan and Magic in their primes? I go 88-89 but it's closer than I originally thought.

Ooooooh that's a spicy meatball.

88-89's first team has the size and Hakeem would destroy DeAndre, but the second team for 15-16 is the difference here I think. It's close. The defensive matchups would be interesting, outside of centers there's a multitude of options there.

I think it's 89 not even close. The size of the first team is ridiculous, and Hakeem covers Magic's defensive liabilities. Nobody guard on either the first or second teams of 2017 could cover Drexler, Magic, or Jordan.

I think Westbrook could do OK on Jordan if he didn't expend too much energy on offense, and CP3 could do OK on Drexler. I said OK, not shut down. The team really could use Klay Thompson. Also, I think Draymond comes off the bench to do some work against Hakeem on offense.

Again, it comes down to rules. IF they can't push Curry and Durant around on the perimeter, they will rain 3's against a slow perimeter D. Jordan will have his hands full, and Magic would be borderline unplayable.

BUT...I still think 89 wins. They're missing a wing who could really take their smallball to the next level and overcome all the size discrepancy.

Disagree.

Curry can shoot wide open 3's all night and he'd still not score enough to make up for what Magic will do to him on the other end.

If Curry shoots "wide open 3's all night", then the game is already over, regardless of who's on your team. That's it. Like I said, if they can push him around on the perimeter, "steer" him off ball, etc. under 1989 rules, then yeah. You could even argue that the team is good enough on D that they can hide Magic under 2017 rules. But your logic just doesn't hold up here.
