This is a new schtick I'm working on. It's still raw, but stay tuned.

This is really good. Crazy story. Don't remotely fault the shooter, can't imagine how freaked out you'd be in that situation.

Pearlman's pearl clutching is pretty bad here. Excellent story, but I didn't like this part.
It might have been a second, or a millisecond, or a milli of a millisecond.

Even were it the absolute slightest measure of time, that teacher had an opportunity to put the gun aside.

To take a deep breath.

To wait.

To gather himself.

He screamed out of his bedroom twice and the dude came into his room. What the fuck, Pearlman?

He used it as a framing device for both individuals. I'm not entirely sure why you'd get upset about that. He's not wrong, the door was still shut and locked when he fired. There was literally time for him to make another choice.

It reads like "that guy should have waited to make sure the angry dude who was banging and breaking shit throughout the house wasn't going to do anything else, all while he's trying to break the door down." I get the framing device, but it reads to me like he's vilifying the shooter.

Ok, if you say so. I thought it was a pretty fair approach to the guy.

Which is it? And I'll stop you, saying "there was literally time to make another choice" is absolutely an implication he shouldn't have shot him.

Jesus Christ, dude, they're not mutually exclusive. Just because he had time to make another choice or to think about it more doesn't mean he made the wrong choice. It in no way is an implication that he shouldn't have shot.

Hot take. Don't shoot at something you can't see. Highly irresponsible to fire blindly in an apartment setting where bullets can go through hollow doors and sheet rock walls and into another apartment easily.
