Consistent Futility: The Pittsburgh Pirates Thread

Liriano is gonna fuck these guys hard in the playoffs. He is either completely dominant, or gets obliterated. I could see him pitching a game one 8inn, 0 runs, 3 hits, 12 k's, and then in a deciding game 5, having a 2.1 inn, 7 runs, 9 hits, 1k outing.

Sucks that it came against the Cubs, but this is an awesome shot:

ETA: That's the moment the Pirates officially clinched a playoff spot this year, for those unaware.

Yeah, he's got that game in him. But we don't take kindly to Debbie Downers 'round the Pirates thread so kindly go fuck yourself.

Frankie ftw.

Frankie ftw.

I saw online that Liriano basically had the best season ever for a left-hander against left handed batters and the Reds did nothing to adjust to him.

Dusty Baker is a worse manager than Monty Burns.

Monty Burns was a good manager. He took out Strawberry because the pitcher was also left handed. It's called playing the percentages. And then what happened? Championship.

How come these guys are allowed to be called Pirates? Isn't that racially insensitive to real pirates?

Piracy is a profession, not a race. The Redskins could solve everything by remembering that and changing their name to the Casino Owner/Operators.

The Pirates should change their logo to a student using the torrents to steal movies/music.

the opportunity cost of knowing how to preheat an oven is pretty puny compared to anything else

Josh Harrison just homered for the 4th time in a week. Is there anything this guy can't do? Play every position? Fine. Get on base? Got that covered. Steal some bases? He's done that. Hit for power? "Oh, well that might be something he can't do."

Four homers in a week, my friends. Sure, small sample size and all. But Josh Harrison is doing it all.
I'd like to see a pair of boobs that would prompt me to write home. Maybe Scarlett Johannson level quality? "Dear Mom and Dad, I saw an awesome rack today. They were perfect. Everything else is fine. Love, BD79."
