2011 Champs: The St. Louis Cardinals

Pretty brave of the best team in baseball to dole out punishment for their egregious cheating....... on the first day of Super Bowl week.

Manfred also ordered the Cardinals to pay $2 million to the Astros — the maximum fine he was allowed to impose, according to the league — and to give Houston their top two picks in this June’s draft. The problem is that the Cardinals, somewhat conveniently, do not have a first-round pick this season; they lost it for signing the free-agent outfielder Dexter Fowler.

BRUTAL price to pay for these cheating faggots.

Manfred’s role in these matters is tricky, since he works for the owners. (Cardinals Chairman Bill) DeWitt, in fact, was the head of a search committee that led to Manfred’s hiring. And Manfred, so far, is not always taking the same approach in establishing disciplinary precedents.

Glad we can count on fair, unbiased discipline in major league baseball.

Great league, fellas.

Just so we're clear, you'll complain that the NFL commissioner (with huge ties to Bobby K-mart) doled out way too much punishment for cheating(after covering up an earlier instance) then turn right around and in the same scenario for a non-Boston team complain it's too lenient.

mister bacon love watching soccer. baseball is about as exciting as scratching my balls.

Still waiting for the compensation those cheating faggots in Boston owe the Cardinals for the 2013 World Series.

John Henry doesn't have Manfred in his pocket like DeWitt, so I expect them to really throw the book at Boston.

Promise you'll keep me posted on this.

Top right of the photo, on the thumb of the glove. I'm guessing the photo probably gets cropped out on mobile devices.

Former Cardinal player Rick Ankiel, was basically ctz

"Before that game…I’m scared to death. I know I have no chance," Ankiel said. "Feeling the pressure of all that, right before the game I get a bottle of vodka. I just started drinking vodka. Lo and behold, it kind of tamed the monster, and I was able to do what I wanted. I’m sitting on the bench feeling crazy I have to drink vodka to pitch through this. It worked for that game. (I had never drank before a game before). It was one of those things like the yips, the monster, the disease…it didn’t fight fair, so I felt like I wasn’t going to fight fair, either."

I also had issues throwing throughout my illustrious career. Many a softball game did i sail a double play throw from 3rd over to 2nd into right field. GT's. Alcohol cures everything.

12th and final season as a (partial) season ticket holder. Last year I made it to one game (I get 40 tickets total).

serious question, how did you make it to only one game. it does not seem like you have a lot of other things going on.

I think I used 30 of the tickets to to get games I could resell on StubHub. The rest of the games, I didn't feel like driving to the game or I would find out none of my friends were going and didn't want to sit by myself or next to someone I didn't know if they sold / gave their tix away.

It was a lot easier to get to games when I lived 4 miles from the stadium vs the 20+ miles I live now.
