The OFFICIAL AL and NL Awards Thread

I just picture BSMB letting out a Sidey Whiplash-like laugh when they announced Morneau won.

No it's not. It really wasn't that close. If Cowley had voted him first, and the guy who voted him 4th put him at 1st, he still wouldn't have won. And yes, Nova, they DO vote before the postseason. They don't announce them until afterwards as to not take away from the playoffs.

They hand in the votes on the last day of the regular season.

Individual awards are stupid, and reading how Rob Neyer or Keith Law define valuable is like listening to a guy define nice tits. Everyone has their own definition, so the system is inherently bullshit. Always has been, always will be.

Are you sure I heard if jeter was voted first and morneau 3rd he would have won. Either way voting him 6th and the comments he said as to why he did especially coming from a guy who was suspended for a year from voting because of a ballot that was so far off its interesting to say the least.
As a met fan I'm happy Jeter didnt get it even though I did think he deserved it.
another thing Cowley said was the yankkes had too many players to vote jeter first yet he had 3 twins in the top 5, seems inconsistent to me.

I barely care, but Jesus. Morneau #s after June 7 are sick. Jeter was solid all year, on a team thats completely stacked. Jeter did not deserve MVP. Get a grip.
PS: I will never like July 27th. It will always be the day Reggie died. I just hate this day. True Celtic fans know what I mean.

One thing that does bother me is Jermaine Dye finishing 5th. The guy was my MVP all season, and I thought he should be 4th at worst, probably 3rd. Oh, well, the Baseball Writers aren't always the sharpest tools in the shed, look at Joe Cowley

Mike and the Mad Dog had him on and he said things like Arod is just as clutch Cano is scarier and he forgot about the 5 game series vs. Boston. I didnt hear the Interview byt it sounds like he was a real clueless jackass.

M&MD think Morneau was deserving.

Far worse than Joe Cowley voting Jeter 6th was Joe Cowley out-doing himself and voting (I'm serious) AJ Pierzynkski 10th. Oh man, what a retard.

As far as Morneau goes, he had almost the exact same numbers as Konerko (plus 20 RBIs), which when put like that is ridiculous because there's no way I'd even consider Konerko an MVP candidate this year.

I would have voted Hafner. Then Jeter. Then Santana, Morneau and Mauer if I had a ballot.

I think this year a legit argument could be made for "carlos" Santana to win the AL MVP. I know he's a pitcher, etc. and they have their own award - but to me he was by far and away the most valuable player in the AL. The twins would have been lost without him. This year and either 99 or 2000 - the year of Pedro's absolutely sick statistical year w. the slop-sox in my mind warrants the MVP to be a pitcher. Morneau had a fantastic season - but i think Santana was the MVP.
Let's go Mets!

Prez - Wed Sep 07, 2016 2:54 pm: Ballz, do you have any thoughts on the AAAA MVP?

I do. I've been keeping my eye on this race, as its much closer than the AL one, AKA Trout's Playground.

4. David Wright. The Mets are 1 game out of a Wild Card, and its no accident. Wright has had a great year. Dude has a rake.
3. Yadier Molina. Its no accident that the Cardinals are going to be in the playoffs for the 19th straight year. Yadier is a leader. Leaders lead and catch pitches.
2. Brice Harper. Pfft. Animal. He's on pace for like 35 bombs. They dont make like this guy anymore.
1. Kris Bryant. He's poised to join the elusive 30/30 club. And oh yeah, lead the Cubs to the best record in baseball. #BRIB

Nothing makes white sportswriter dong harder than Mike Trout. Not even The Boss on tour playing the entire Darkness album.

Wait until he's on the Yankees in two years. Holy boners!

So hard he's won the MVP twice, rather than the five times he should have?
