The Official Milwaukee Brewers Thread

Postby Wisconsin Sports Guy » 31 Jan 2006, 12:21

This is my first post and as my name suggests I love Wisconsin sports. I am a lifelong Brewers fan and am wondering what people think. Since the Brewers have been more active than they have been in at least 15 years, I see them competing for the wild card and maybe even a division title. They are young, but they have some veteran leadership. Ned Yost got gipped last year in the Manager of the Year balloting. I think they win between 80 and 90 games this year. What do some of you think?

First of all, Bobby Cox > Ned Yost. As for the Brewers, I think they could be pretty good this year, but I'm not sure if winning the division is plausible. Maybe a year away.

Can you imagine how stoked Sveum must've been to get out of Boston?

I like how Dooze thinks he's telling me something I don't know.

Now that Mazzone is not a pitching coach, I would say we have the best one in Mike Maddux. He will turn around Danny Kolb. Hell, he could even fix Mark Wholers.

Uh, Mazzone is still a pitching coach. For the Orioles. And if Mazzone couldn't fix him, nobody can. Although I think Kolb's problem was he felt too much pressure in Atlanta. He would get nervous in Spring Training.

I actually got to watch the AA affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers a ton the last few years (go Stars!), and I figured that if they could keep this team together with a solid manager like Yost, they could compete for the division in 2007. I think this year, they could be a solid Wild Card contender.

Prince Fielder is from here and their high-A affiliate (Brevard County) is here too.

I actually think the Brewers can make the playoffs next year. The NL is unbelievably weaker than the AL and I think it's wide open.

Miller Park is awesome. I got to see a game there last summer and got loaded, fun times.

Edit: The Brewers lit the fuck out of Zambrano and the Cubs that day. El caballo, Carlos Lee, went yard twice. Even better times.
