i would definitely do this trade. dong what do you think?

It makes sense. Shark's not much more than a 4th or 5th starter at this point, and if Melancon is actually their closer going into the season I would be disappointed. However, it would clear up a bit of the logjam in the outfield and get rid of a less than ideal contract. I'd sign off on it.

Getting rid of that contract would free up those funds to throw them at Harper.

In the sense that they'd be paying $140 million for a backup right fielder/part time CF, yes, I agree.

Harp's going to New York. I'd about put money on it.

Tyler Chatwood! Cue the duckboats!

Actually looks like he's good away from Coors so I'll take it. 3 years for nearly $40 million though? Oof.

I've seen some advanced stuff kicked around that he doesn't walk many and he gets people to hit grounders a lot, both of which I am fully in favor of at Wrigley.

3 years $40 million isn't bad for starting pitching money these days.

And someone once told me something about how there's no salary cap in baseball? Sounds made up, frankly.

Oh I know, just seems like a lot for a guy with a 5+ ERA. In the end, I think the Ricketts family will be able to continue to feed the family.

Arrieta is reportedly looking for a $200 million deal. Welp. You're one of my favorite Cubs, Jake, but nice knowing you.

30+ year old pitcher? Seeking an obscene amount of money that the team will surely regret within two years?
