The Fountain of Retard (Redskins Thread)

I rarely start threads, but I didn't see a thread for my favorite football team, the mighty Washington Redskins.

Here's some news for you Steeler guys: Evidently, the Redskins are really going after Randle-El. That would be a nice pick-up.

Supposedly the Redskins picked up Brandon Lloyd, Kevin Carter, Randle-El, and someone else and were flying them to a Wizards game tonight.

They've got Lloyd locked up, sending a 3rd rounder this year and a 4th next year to the Niners, according to ESPN.

It kills me to see Antwaan go, but it's been pretty clear since the season ended that he was going to wind up somewhere other than the Steel City. I hope I'm wrong and he winds up coming back, but if he doesn't I wish him luck in his new home.

Yeah, I heard about the Lloyd thing, but didn't know it was a done deal. I had actually forgotten about Lloyd a little, because, even though I'm a huge NFL fan, the 49ers have only been a borderline NFL team the last couple of seasons.

The Skins are also looking to get Andre Carter and Adam Archuleta (aka "Plan B if Taylor goes to jail").

Maybe I misheard Andre Carter as Kevin Carter. And Archuleta was the other player that got picked up today that I couldn't think of.

Lloyd's a huge pickup. Now teams are gonna get beat if they double Santana and leave a one on one situation with Brandon Lloyd. I'm pretty psyched for next season.

Why would SF trade Lloyd? Must be a trouble maker.

From what I understand, he was not happy with the rebuilding process around Alex Smith and this years destined to be dismal team.

Whats the deal with the QB situation in DC? Are they going to trot Brunell's corpse out again? Or are they going to give Campbell a shot?

Well, they didn't trade him, he was a restricted free agent. But still. And while Lloyd makes some pretty amazing catches, a lot of what I've read is that he drops way too many easy passes.

And the 49ers problems go way beyond Alex Smith not having a #1 receiver, since a) Alex Smith is their QB, and b) they were actually trying to use Brandon Lloyd as a #1 receiver.

Randle El would be a perfect fit there, they should look into getting a possession receiver though.

That "corpse" should have made the Pro Bowl last season (23 TDs, 10 INTs), but the Redskins have made it pretty clear they think Campbell is the guy for the future. I think Brunell will start all year, barring a disaster or injury, but I would expect to see Campbell get a chance to be the starter by 2007 at the latest. Hopefully, Brunell will ride off into the sunset after leading the Skins to a World Title this season, paving the way for Campbell to take over without Brunell (whom I like a lot) having to get pushed aside.
