The Bears

The Bears

Postby nerf66 » 15 Aug 2005, 13:05

The Bears can't catch a break. Here's one thing that is for sure: Rex Grossman ain't no favre. Durability is incredibly underrated in the NFL. I'm sure Rex has the skills to become a decent NFL QB, but it looks like we'll never know because he's made of glass.

Anyway, it looks like this season is over for the bears before it even got started....unless you can see Chad Hutchinson or Kyle Orton leading the bears into the playoffs....and I can't. Just writing those two names made me chuckle.

This sucks.

I'm sure Jeff George is available.

Jeff Blake? Chris Chandler wasn't available?

Hopefully the Bears can either A) make a trade (John Kitna, Doug Flutie, Phillip Rivers/Drew Brees) or B) hope a decent QB gets cut due to the cap or something.

I don't think they're that bad of a team overall.

Overall, they aren't THAT bad....but only because their defense keeps them in games. Their offense is terrible. I had hope that Grossman would turn things around. This is going to be another 5 win season for the Bears.

Every time the Red Wings or Lions play Chicago, it's like an automatic win.

Waaaaaaaaaaait. Now I'm all for Bears-bashing, and correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't the Lions won 2, 3, 5, and 6 games over the past 4 years? Granted they swept the Bears last year, but I think you're getting pretty cocky about one of the worst teams in the NFL over the past few seasons.

Ugh, let's not provoke Dooze. I'm sure he is off looking for a picture of Joey Harrington handing off to Kevin Jones to prove his point that the Lions are going to the playoffs.

A little nugget of information from TMQ this week:

TMQ wrote:Chicago quarterbacking is so consistently bad, Chicago Tribune sportswriter Don Pierson noted at this year's Hall of Fame banquet, that the 20 touchdown passes Friedman threw in 1929 using a watermelon-shaped ball would have led in the Bears in 38 of the last 39 years

That's awful. Wow. The Bears had 9 passing TDs last year? Absolutely incredible.

They seriously only had 9 TD passes last year? That's one of the most pathetic stats I've ever seen.
