that jacket probably costs 5 grand and it looks like it should be in an 80's Michael Jackson video.

Sponsorship money drying up in NASCAR

This sport is dying a pretty fast death. With Dale Jr retiring and Danica not having a ride next year there aren't many recognizable names left.

Shortening the season would help dramatically in my opinion. It may be way too late for that but I think if they had 10-20 cup races a year a lot people would actually start to give a shit again. With the amount of bullshit people have going on in their lives all sports need to focus more on maintaining fan base and making sure they do not dilute their own product.

they fucked up when interest was high, adding all those 1.5 mile ovals. that is the worst race Nascar has to offer. They could have a race every weekend for the same season length they have now (or shorten it by a few, whatever) if they used only the interesting tracks. Why would it be bad to have 2 Darlington races again? 2 Martinsville, 2 Bristol (fuck it, 4 Bristols), 2 Talladega, 2 Daytona, Watkins Glen, Sonoma, 1 Dover, 1 Indy, 1 Magic Mile, add Road America to the Cup series, bring back Rockingham (twice). That's 20, and i guess i can deal with a race in California, one in Vegas, etc, just because they're high population areas. It's more important for the race to be interesting than it is for people to be there.

Adding all these cookie cutter tracks along with moving the races from broadcast to cable fucked them doubly. Rockingham was great, as was North Wilkesboro. I'd keep a race at Charlotte (the Memorial weekend 600) and one at Atlanta, but your list is pretty spot on. And who cares about a race in Kentucky, Kansas, and Chicago? Michigan and California are basically the same track. Keep Pocono as well so Balls can go see it.
