In majors:

Woods: Top 10 finishes - 38 (14 wins)
Nicklaus: Top 2 finishes - 37 (18 wins). By the way, he had 73 top 10 finishes.

Tiger was great to watch, but I'd give Jack the GOAT tag here.
Balls: I know a guy who came home after high school one day to over hear his mom and dad having a 3some with another lady. He actually went to beat off during it in his room.

I hold that against Jack. Runner up is only #1 loser. Just ask my buffalo bills.

I'd say that's more of a sign of how little depth there was in a given field back then.

I agree with this. There may not be the same level of long-term stars that Jack had to compete with, but how many legitimately good golfers were there back then? Like 10? 20 maybe? Was finishing in the top 10 back then even a real accomplishment?

Tiger's dominant stretch from the PGA in 1999 to the US Open in 2008 was 13 major wins in 36 tournaments. He was the PGA Player of the Year 8 times in that 10 year span. You can say that Jack was better longer, but he took 24 years to win four more tournaments than Tiger got in 9 years. I mean, that's as hot a run as you'll find.

But it's Greatest Of All Time, not greatest for a 36 tournament span. That's why I picked Jack. Maybe somebody should do a poll to make it official.
