I'm pretty sure they only give the medals to those who finish. If it was just for showing up at the starting gate like most youth sports, then I would sign up for a marathon and call a cab to take me to the bar as soon as my chip registered at the start line.

fair enough, i meant finishing nowhere near the front still earns a medal. but i think YOU KNEW WHAT I MEANT.

Thanks guys!

The race is much tougher than the races I've run to this point. Not getting a good night's sleep and it being much warmer than the weather I trained in were the two biggest factors I think.

The Newton hills and Heartbreak Hill are no joke.

The crowd is amazing and really gets you pumped up. Decided to enjoy it instead of blocking them out.

Official time is 3:42:29--still my 4th or 5th fastest marathon (out of 9 overall).

Not sure what's next--thinking an international marathon...maybe one of the other world majors (Tokyo, London, and Berlin--and NYC in the US). I've now done the other 2--Chicago and Boston. There's actually a medal for finishing all six.

I did Marine Corps in 2012. It's a good run but the uphill climb for the last couple tenths of a mile is brutal. Got kinda choked up when the Marine gave me my medal and saluted me. That was cool.

Leaning toward London next year. It's in April so that'll be enough time to recover from this one and get into training again.

I was passed by a blind guy on that uphill. It made me sad, but I was too far away to trip him.

Flush, I got new running shoes. Decided to try out Mizunos instead of Brooks this time. Am I going to be disappoint?

BD, first of all congrats on the purchase of new running shoes. I assume they were purchased and not stolen, right?

I have not run in either Mizunos or Brooks but some of my buddies have run with Mizunos. I tried on Brooks before going with Saucony 2-3 years ago and couldn't quite get a good feel.

Best of luck with the new shoes!

It's the Bell's Two Hearted Ale of running shoes.

hi, yokel here with a sincere response: i love the way mizunos feel but they seem to wear out faster than other running shoes.

I went for a walk/jog on Saturday. Then walked 18 holes on Sunday. I do feet stretches for my plantar fasciitis. But that did not help this time. #FatProbs. I couldn't walk at all by Sunday night. My right foot was throbbing. #FatFuck. So I iced it for like 15 mins and it actually worked. I am feeling pretty good now, and felt ok yesterday. Who knew? Ice.
PS: I will never like July 27th. It will always be the day Reggie died. I just hate this day. True Celtic fans know what I mean.
