Its about that time... even here in Arizona we get some snow in the north country. Anyone else a fan?

I ski. Don't call me a bum. Skiing is where it's at. Actually I tried snowboarding when I was 10, didn't enjoy it. I've been skiing since I was 5. In a week and a half, I'm going up to the mountain with the family. Nice old family tradition.

This made me laugh for some reason.

Anyways, I get up to NC or Snowshoe about every other year to go snowboarding. I can only handle that weather for no more than 4 days though. Dry, cold air + altitude=bad times.

That made me laugh too. For some reason I just picture _ tumbling down the side of a mountain yelling "This is EXTREME!!!!!!!!!!"

And I've never snowboarded. If my skateboarding skills translated to snow boarding, I'd have a broken pelvis in about 10 minutes.

Haha!! That __ is one extreme dude I tell ya. Yeah, the first time I ever went snowboarding I looked up at that mountain and just pictured how fast I'd be going on a skateboard and got really scared. But obviously you don't go nearly as fast on a snowboard as on a skateboard, so it was all good. Plus, falling onto snow is much better than falling onto pavement.

I thoroughly enjoy skiing and snowboarding, and frequently can be found on the slopes.

The only downside: I only make it to a really nice mountain about twice a season. Northern Michigan has decent ski areas, but it's nothing compared to the Rockies or Appalachians.

I like to ski, never tried snowboarding. I don't go as often as I'd like, mostly just because it's so goddamn expensive. But skiing is winter's saving grace IMO.

Snowboarding is cheaper than skiiing where I go. I tried both, and cant come to terms over which one is more exciting. All I know is Im going down a hill really fast, and it's fucking awesome.

Snowboarding is cheaper than skiing? Do you mean renting the equipment? The lift ticket has to be the same price for both, doesn't it?

I'm limited in the amount of time I can spend skiing\snowboarding by the, shall we say, natural geographic limitations that Iowa offers.

Yea renting the equipment is cheaper.

This year they FINALLY got better ski boots. The old ones would clip on, then proceed to crush your feet. It was that tight. But the newer ones are snug, and fit perfectly. Good ski boots make all the difference.

Iowa doesn't have any bomb dick ski resorts? That's shocking.

There are two "mountains" to my knowledge in the vicinity of me here in Iowa. I would die if I went to Colorado though, so I'm not complaining.
