College Basketball 2017-2018

It's that time of year again--college hoops is back.

This should get things started--where every team in every state ranks within their own state.

Very weird to see Iowa back on top of the state, they have been 2nd or 3rd best for a very long time. Fran is building some things. They're going to be a legit Sweet 16/Elite 8 threat next season.

Wasn't Fran on the hot seat as recently as a year or two ago?

NC State being ranked behind Davidson in North Carolina gives me a sad, but Keatts is building something there. Ceiling this year is probably an NIT berth, but not really expecting much other than to be competitive.

Duke looks like a wagon this year. ESPN ranked the top 50 players in CBB and most of the likely Duke rotation is in their list.

In reality, no. He's continually improved at recruiting, his teams have somehow gotten over their tendency to sink into a shithole around the end of the year (remember Uthoff's last year when they were like #2 in the country and wound up making the last 4 in into the tourney, I memba, that was fun). His demeanor occasionally rubs people the wrong way but he'll be here until he is ready to leave unless things significantly change. Doesn't hurt that his kid is a top 25 prospect and just verbally committed.

lol at CofC ahead of USCe. i mean, sounds great and all but they have to finish the season with like 5-9 losses to have a chance to qualify and USCe could qualify with 19 wins if they're in the right places. they might be a better team though.

2 of their main contributors are true freshman, very good class coming in, replacing Peter Jok who was their primary scorer last year, and they only have 1 real senior contributor on the roster (Dom Uhl). I think they're a 6-9 (nice) type team in the B1G this year and a tourney team. They could theoretically slip into the Sweet 16 but I don't think that's very realistic at this point.

Their biggest issues for next year will be finding playing time for their good players, and the risk that Tyler Cook is going to break out and have a monster year and leave for the NBA.
