I haven't followed them as much this year, but didn't they have injuries? They also have early season wins over Kansas and UNC when they were at full strength. I think they're similar to NC State with Gottfried--talent takes them only so far because the coaching is subpar.

i edited my comment to add they've won the big 10 regular season twice in the last 5 years too. that's pretty good. i don't think they can seriously be considering firing a guy who has that resume. that'd be really stupid.

Ah, I missed the edit but I think I'd seen that before as well. And they won the B1G tournament last year, right? Pretty good run considering the dumpster fire Kelvin Sampson left there.

I thought I saw somewhere that since he got IU, they have the 8th most wins in the B1G. You're right about the dumpster file initially, but that's not cutting it to Indiana fans.

They expect to win championships--I'll give them that. I'd be ok with that return at NC State, but not with Crean as coach. The 2013 team they had with Oladipo and Cody Zeller should've gotten past the Sweet 16.

that's pretty unfair since he spent his first 3 seasons with no players since Dakich kicked them all off the team (justifiably probably). 28-66 in the first 3 years, 135-66 since. he's got a bad PR problem but he's doing a great job objectively speaking.

damon bailey is an assistant coach at Butler..... for their woman's team.

i would imagine losing to butler this year and the success they've had probably doesn't help crean's situation.

actually no. everyone here understands that UCLA is pretty much a dream job for any hoop coach for obvious reasons. they are also familiar with alford from when he coached at Iowa and aren't really clamouring for him. no one really expects the same kind of success as butler has because butler's program is built around kids who stay for four years. IU fans (and because they're in the big 10) expect pro-prospect level recruits. another problem crean has is that he's had some trouble landing those quality of kids from talent-rich indiana so there's essentially no penalty for firing him from in-state hoop coaches. IU had some injury issues but the problems that plagued them started around december. crean has never had any clue as to how to coach his team to play proper help defense so they give up way too many open perimeter shots. they have no one at PG and have virtually no floor communication to the point that the coaches on the bench began holding up signs that say "blockout" and "switch" to get the attention of the kids.

crean's overall record looks decent but fans really hate that they have great years and then disappointing years b2b under him.

Indiana is the 5th best college team in the state right now. At best. Unacceptable, IMO.
