I will probably sign-up because I don't want Simmons to say I did not properly defend my title.

However, if we have 4 or less people, I say we scrap it.

ctz31 - Tue Oct 23, 2012 6:18 am: that's ok. to make up for it, go to one of the fantasy threads and give me a top 10 players to target and top 10 to avoid. auction, $200 budget. i think i'm going for balance this year rather than the draft 2 studs and fill out the roster with scrubs approach i've tried in the past.

Well, if we're taking LeBron/Durant/Paul off the board then I'll throw some names out there:

Targets

Klay Thompson, Warriors - Won't help you tonnes in rebounds/assists/steals/blocks, but he'll score, shoot well, and hit lots of 3's
Greg Monroe, Pistons - puts up good numbers across the board, not great rebounds and blocks but his production might jump if Drummond continues to look good
Al Harrington, Magic - you'll get him for $1 and shit, somebody's got to score down there
Ben Gordon, Bobcats - ditto
Al Horford, Hawks - 100% healthy (I think) and he'll get more shots with Iso Joe gone.
Gordon Hayward, Jazz - that white boy's good, should be able to get him cheap unless your league is raycess
DeMarcus Cousins, Kings - I believe in boogie, FG% is a real risk but he's going to get buckets this year
Deron Williams, Nets - at a decent price, he should be much more efficient than last year
Ty Lawson, Nuggets - he's a beast flying just under the all-star radar; will give you 80% of the production of star guards at 50% of the price
Danilo Gallinari, Nuggets - I smell a break-out season. He's struggled a bit with his shot the last 2 years, but I think a healthy Gallinari will make DtF very sad this year.

Avoids

I'm going to keep this simple. Injured guys, old guys, inefficient guys, guys in bad situations. I've done the "Oh, I'll pick the injured guy and store him on my bench" trick for years. Never works.

Dirty Dirk, Mavs - bad knee/old/hasn't cared since he won
Stephon Curry, Warriors - already done his repaired ankle, out for pre-season
Andrew Bogut, Warriors - on schedule, but no schedule for his return?
Kobe Bean, Lakers - I predict chucking
Blake Griffin, Clippers - watched him miss 6 straight ft's
Metta World Peace, Lakers - I've heard some "he'll get wide open looks" suggestions. Thing is, he can't shoot. Wouldn't touch him for a buck.
Jeremy Lin, Rockets - let the AZN guy in your league overpay for him. Oh wait, you're in upstate New York. Nevermind. Don't bid for him anyway, he looks disastrous.
Kevin Love, T-Wolves - 6-8 weeks
D Rose, Bulls - no timetable for return
Pretty Ricky - no timetable for return

Here it is SGSW. The fruits of our labo(u)r.

Deron Williams $61
Steve Nash $21 (i took him for you and SGSW/BixU)
Rudy Gay $28
Danilo Gallinari $8
Paul Milsap $28
Gordon Hayward $1
Tyreke Evans $17
Javale McGee $8
Klay Thompson $22
Ben Gordon $6
Thaddeus Young $2
Andrei Kirilenko $1
Brandon Bass $1
Luke Ridnour $1

There are 8 starting positions, but it doesn't really matter who you play, as long as you get to the 34 games played a week. So I'm not TOO concerned that my starting center is J. McGee. Guys I nabbed that you liked: Deron, Gallinari, Hayward, Klay Thompson, Gordon. I think a few guys in the league read the same article as you, because Ty Lawson, Greg Monroe and Horford all went for big $ in bidding wars that I couldn't keep up with. When it got to that Klay dude, I had the most money left, and said fuck it this is the last guy I'm definitely getting and ended up paying more than double his projected value. That left me with enough to complete my bench with all the $1 players you see. Oh well. So should I pop the bubbly?

Lebron was first player out of the gate, and people were bidding in the $70's and then some dude that musta been drunk popped it to $100. He then tried to get Durant for like $86 before he couldn't bid anymore. Ended up next bidding on Dwight Howards Dong and getting hime for $78. I'll be curious to see how that team works out.

3 people? Seriously?

I say we push it back and try to rustle up some more competitors.

Get rustling. My rustling skills are inadequate.

Yeah, forgot about this and was in a mediation until about 8pm tonight anyway. I didn't pre-rank anyone, which I would have thought would only hurt me anyway, but it looks like the computer did even worse than I would have. :/
