Dice-Mania!!1!

OK, it's now half way through his first season in Boston, I think Dice-K deserves his own thread.

He's 26, making 6.3 million this season and pitching more consistantly than his early season starts. His stats, while not all that impressive are pretty good considering he totally changed his life/routine to come to the major leagues.

Stats as of 7/5/07:
G-----IP------H----R---HR--BB---SO----W---L---Sv--P/GS--WHIP--BAA--ERA
17--114.2--100-- 45--9--37--119---10-- 5--- 0--111.0--1.19--.233--3.53

I expect Bosux and Balls to chime in, but I'm sure either of them would be thrilled to have this guy starting every 5th day for the Yankees or Phils at this point.
Ballz: So, I fucking got a BJ for $250 total, and wore a rubber. It sucked, I couldnt even feel it, so i jeckyled onto her tits. She was cute. Not even that far out of my league, it was a waste of $250

i don't know a whole lot about pitching stats, but isn't 100 hits in 114 innings pretty bad? Like if he continues to allow hits at that rate, his era is going to balloon when he stops getting lucky?

If hits allowed is less than innings pitched, it's usually OK. If hits allowed + walks, is less than innings pitched it's excellent.
My point is, while Dice-K isn't quite a top 10 pitcher, he's putting up some decent stats in the American League.

agreed. he's a solid #3/4 in the AL, which would make him the ace on the Braves.

Although you could (accurately) say he's had good run support. I disagree with the "lucky" comment. His ERA is 3.53, currently 14th best in the AL for starters.

I'd say more like a solid #2 starter in the A.L.

I agree fully. Earlier this year, he was getting Tina'd, but the Sox offense was there to bail him out. Now, the little Nip is untouchable and is starting to eke out 4-1 type games.

He seems to have adjusted better to the different strike zone as well. He seemed frustrated in the first few starts.

I'm impressed with his WHIP and BAA.

Even if he was on the Royals or Pirates or some other shitty team and didn't have as many wins, he's still doing very well in the WHIP and BAA department.

Except for that one 1-0 loss against the Mariners earlier this year against Felix the Great.

The final was 3-0, Tiff.

My bad.. am I thinking of a different game? There was a game where he only gave up something like 1 hit and got the loss... I swear. Guess not. I'm a tard.

He lost 2-1 to Toronto, giving up only 3 hits and walking 3 in 6 IP.

I just realized what I did there... I was thinking of the Seattle game, but I remember thinking at the time that he wouldve had to throw a no hitter to outduel Felix...somehow that got jumbled up in my head. Anyways, it's still a good example of a game where he got piss poor run support.

Dan Haren started out the year 0-2 after giving up one earned run combined in those two starts. Ouch.
