Fenway Park

The Boston Red Sox

Fenway Park

Postby Frank the Tank » 18 Jul 2005, 15:53

From an interview with Bloomberg News today:

Red Sox Owner John Henry wrote:We'll be adding upwards of 4,000 seats over the next three years. A lot of them will come during this off-season once we replace the .406 Club. I know I'm biased but those seats are going to be the best seats in baseball.

Am I the only one who didn't know they were planning to do this? Does anyone have any idea what the changes are going to look like?

Ah yeah, I heard they were taking the glass off the 406 club...should still be damn expensive. Dont know where else they could add seats without the park falling over though...

I saw that Bo. It talks about a "renovated" .406 club, not "replacing" the .406 club. It just sounds like it's going to be more major than I thought. They also said it was looking like 2,500 seats before, so the plans must have changed since that April press release.

Well, the 406 club could count for 2,500 and some of the other projects could account for the rest. I believe they were planning on doing some more work over in right field to add seats.

I didnt know about it, but then again I'm not surprised. After all, Fenway fits in the least people of all ballparks.

Fenway sucks ass, I hate going there.
Half of the seats face the bullpen for some reason. The bout the building behind fenway and they are actually putting bleachers on the roof claiming that it will be like those houses near Wrigley. I also heard they were renting binoculars at the top of the Prudential.

Sure the seats point in the wrong direction in sections 1-10, but other than that you're close to the field with a good view. Given that the Sox aren't going to be getting a PNC-style beauty of a new stadium any time soon I'm glad that Fenway is as good a place to watch a game as it is. It could be worse: we could be stuck with Shea Stadium.

As a guy who's 6'2" and wears XL shirts, I'll admit Fenway definately isn't a comfortable place to watch a game but "sucks ass" is WAY OFF. Even Yankee fans would have to agree that the history and closeness make it a great place to see a game.

And a lousy place to breast feed. Ha aheated exchange about the breast feeding thing over the weekend with the Bo Babe who insisted women should be allowed to do it anywhere. Sorry, but in fenway Park, you're gonna have folks on either side of you almost sittingin your lap. Not. Appropriate.

If you're going to breast feed in Fenway Park, just realize that all the drunk guys around you will be staring at your tits. If that doesn't bother you, go for it.

I hope it was really worth ripping up that beautiful new outfield at Fenway so that the worthless Rolling Stones could drag their bags of bones on stage and sing their crappy music...

If this was.. say.. 1970, or even 1980 you might be right, but its 2005. Could you even see them actually ON the stage or were you watching TV with a bunch of Stones fans outdoors?
