Nice, you did so good refreshing the Ringer all day! We’re all proud of you!
PS: I will never like July 27th. It will always be the day Reggie died. I just hate this day. True Celtic fans know what I mean.

Simmons logic goes against nearly everything I ever heard actual bookies say about betting on sports

I'm not sure if I would take a bookie's advice on betting on sports.
Balls: I know a guy who came home after high school one day to over hear his mom and dad having a 3some with another lady. He actually went to beat off during it in his room.

No I mean the bookies love teasers because they don’t pay off nearly as much as two separate bets with the actual point spreads. Simmons insistence on talking about teasers as actual bets shows he’s a goof

Teasers shouldn't pay as much because you are not beating the same point spread

I think he means they don't pay off as often.

From 2005 through 2012, the no. 1–ranked DVOA team made only one Super Bowl (it’s happened three times since)

RULE NO. 9: Severely discount anything that happened in the first five to six weeks of the regular season.

It's funny because DVOA does NOT severely discount anything that happened in the first 5/6 weeks of the season, so using it as the be-all, end-all predictor of everything is a bad idea by your own logic.

RULE NO. 6: Never pick an underdog unless you genuinely believe that it has a chance to win.

You see, there's this thing called a point spread. And if it's 3, then obviously you wouldn't take the underdog if you thought they had literally zero chance to win. If the point spread is 9.5, that's not necessarily the case.

My favorite 2005-to-2012 fact is that the following QBs won a Round 2 and/or Round 3 playoff game: Jake Plummer

Whaddaya know, his team's defense allowed the 3rd fewest points in the NFL that season!
Jay Cutler

Whaddaya know, his team's defense allowed the 4th fewest points in the NFL that season!
Alex Smith

2nd fewest points!
Matt Hasselbeck

7th fewest points! And scored the most points of any team in the league with that bum Hasselbeck!
Rex Grossman

Gave up the 3rd fewest points!
Colin Kaepernick

Gave up the 2nd fewest points!
and Mark Sanchez
[/quote]
Gave up the fewest points!

What a crazy coincidence that all those teams were really good at defense. Call it the Double Reverse Bizzarro Mark Sanchez Midnight Run Real World Road Rules Challenge Theory! Now please send me a check for $5 million so I can podcast about this remarkable discovery with some guys I went to college with.

I AM SUPPOSED TO TAKE THIS TEAM IN THE PLAYOFFS ON THE ROAD????? With DeMarco Murray out, they won’t be able to run the ball. (Sorry, Derrick Henry isn’t good.)

Nice call, Dick.
