Seahawks XL Champs wrote:Simmons is obnoxious, and writing things like "Sandy Bullock", "Ben Button", "Fabby Oberto", and making other nicknames up that try to make him seem like an insider is just stupid. I disagree with so much of what he writes.

However, in this case, Olbermann took an unprovoked shot. Bill might have been juvenile is his response about the cats and living alone, but what would you guys have done? Nothing in order to not give KO any more attention, or would you have tried to fight back? I just think SImmons felt he was attacked unnecessarily and went on the offensive and now in this case he realizes (probably with some "help" from his bosses) that enough is enough.

There Angus, another post NOT about Super Bowl 40. :D

I think I can say with nearly 100% certainty that if I was in Simba's situation, I would ignore the guy. But then, I generally don't tend to care about others opinions of myself, specifically others who have never met me. Billy, on the other hand, has tried earnestly to paint himself as a cool guy, and I think wants more than anything to be considered hip.

As for Olbermann taking an unprovoked shot, I remember reading a quote by someone once: "You're a public figure. When you screw up, people are going to write about it. Get over yourself." If only the person who'd said that could somehow have let Bill in on this nugget of information....

Face it, Simmons knows that any publicity is good publicity. The buzz from that stupid column and this dorky battle with KO has done nothing but raise his media profile. Needless to say, the zeitgeist of the reality TV era is that being famous for being an idiot > never being famous at all. And I think we all know where Simmons stands on reality TV. So bring on KO and anyone else with an ounce of mainstream relevancy who wants to give him the time of day.

I think we passed that point several hundred exits back.

Hey, I hate to be the n00b who comes in and bumps dead threads, but a friend sent me this, and maybe some of you will find it interesting.

Start listening around the 20:30 mark. Would he really want a "pious blowhard" on his precious B.S. Report? He was just trying to save face in the worst way possible.

Apparently all of Simba's Twitter bullshit about Olbermann was just that, bullshit.

At least he doesn't have a screen name that's going to make him a target.

the opportunity cost of knowing how to preheat an oven is pretty puny compared to anything else

I dunno, man. Vujacic's a pretty hateable dude. And a shitty player, but not quite shitty enough to be good for comic relief purposes (like, say, Greg Kite).

Uh, oh. Tiger missed the cut. Muhammad Ali never missed a cut. Phil has been vindicated.
